Celebrate Women's History Month with a Special Corporate Volunteer Council of Atlanta Field Trip!

March is Women's History Month. In celebration, we are highlighting Clara Barton, founder of the American Red Cross

Ms. Barton had an intense devotion to helping others, and she forged a bold path of service to help people in need. Her legacy lives on today through the American Red Cross, which now provides services including disaster relief, lifesaving blood, health and safety training and certification, international aid services, and support of military families. Here in Georgia, the Red Cross serves 10 million people through a network of 8 chapters.

Many CVC member companies partner with the American Red Cross of Georgia, supporting humanitarian relief efforts and hosting in-office blood drives. But when you host a blood drive, where does all of the blood go? We are about to find out during our exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the American Red Cross Biomedical Facility and Lab!

You won’t want to miss this incredible tour. This center serves the biomedical blood, platelet, and blood plasma needs for 4 states ( Georgia, Alabama, South Carolina and North Carolina ) and is 6 football fields long!  This is a great opportunity to learn more about the Blood Saves Lives programs of the American Red Cross,  including the Sickle Cell Initiative, Cancer Initiative, and Blood Management Systems.  Following the tour, you'll be better prepared to share about the American Red Cross of Georgia and its services with your company's leadership, employees, and other blood drive participants.

The tour is limited to 25 guests, and you must register to attend. The facility is located just west of Downtown Atlanta in Douglasville, GA. Driving time is approximately 35 minutes via Interstate 20 West. Please consider carpooling, and maximize your networking time with fellow CVC members! Light refreshments will be provided.

Special thanks to Joe Vella (former CVC President and American Red Cross Regional Philanthropy Officer) and Todd Brown (former CVC Volunteer of the Year and American Red Cross of Georgia, Greater Atlanta Board Chair) for hosting this special field trip. We are grateful for your partnership and support. And we know Ms. Barton would approve!
