Home for All: How Companies Can Help Bridge
Atlanta's Affordable Housing Gap
When City of Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens took office two years ago, he set a goal for the city to create or preserve 20,000 affordable housing units by 2030. At the close of 2023, the City shared that we are nearly halfway toward reaching the mayor's goal. And according to Atlanta City Council President, Doug Shipman, "More housing is coming, and more efforts are being done to prevent evictions and landlord disputes with tenants." These are all positive steps for housing in our city.
However, rent and home prices continue growing at a rate higher than incomes, and many Atlantans cannot afford permanent housing. When safe, consistent housing is unavailable, families often become transient interrupting youth education, job stability, personal health, and more.
As these housing affordability challenges persist across the country, there are several Atlanta organizations that are leading the way when it comes to innovative solutions and new models for housing success. One of these leaders is Star-C. Please join the CVC for our first quarterly meeting of 2024 as we dive into Atlanta's housing affordability challenges and learn about how companies can help.
