National nonprofit, PolicyLink, defines workforce equity as a labor market in which racial income gaps are eliminated, all jobs are good jobs, and everyone who wants to work has access to family-supporting employment. Many Metro Atlanta companies and industries are beginning to address workforce equity through partnerships, enhanced training opportunities and other strategies. But considering that our region consistently has one of the largest opportunity gaps – or limits on potential based on arbitrary circumstances such as race, ethnicity, ZIP code and socioeconomic status – in the nation, we will need all hands on deck to address Atlanta’s equity challenge!

Join the CVC of Atlanta for our Fall Quarterly Meeting as we learn how Metro Atlanta leaders are approaching the vast and multi-layered topic of workforce equity. It will take time, but with earnest, intentional work and corporate support, we have a tremendous opportunity to be the “City of Equity” and to inspire other cities around the globe. Featured speakers include:

Qaadirah Abdur-Rahim, Chief Equity Officer, City of Atlanta

John Helton, CEO, Atlanta CareerRise

CVC members may choose to join us for a live broadcast at Ryan or view the program from your workspace via Zoom (link provided upon registration).

Please be sure to choose "in person" or "virtual" attendee when registering so that we may plan accordingly. This program is appropriate for corporate and community professionals of all skill levels. Members only, please. If you would like to invite a guest, please contact Cheryl Kortemeier to register.

The CVC is following CDC recommended guidance for gatherings for vaccinated individuals. Additionally, the City of Atlanta currently urges everyone to mask in public indoor spaces, so we ask that all members and guests comply with these guidelines and and any other guidelines put in place by our venue/host when attending CVC programs and events.

Special thanks to Ryan for hosting the CVC for this hybrid program!
